Yesterday while walking through one of the hutongs behind the Yonghe Gong Lama Temple I heard a noise I thought was just some motorbikes, it kept happening and I took off my hood and realised it was coming from the sky, a flock of birds was making the most odd sound.

It wasn’t until today that completely by accident Willoh was reading program notes for a sound work and came across this strange occurrence. Apparently Beijingers attach bamboo whistles to their feet and you can hear them overhead, i am not sure why but here is the rather inadequate video I took of it.

I have been forced to use Flickr video because both Vimeo and Youtube have been shut down by the PRC.
