Cultural Advocacy
Through travel and residencies in the Asia Pacific, I have begun to research cultural practice, creativity and art and its relevance to community building and social cohesion. An overarching part my practice involves engaging in cultural advocacy and leadership.
I currently sit on the Next Wave Festival’s board, Community Partnerships panel for Arts Victoria, have been a regular member for the Australia Council’s Inter-Arts Office panel and for three years been a member of the Hybrid and Alternative Panel of the Green Room Awards Melbourne.
I have sat on the Next Wave Festival’s curatorial committee, Dancehouse’s Housemate residency panel, Punctum’s Seedpod committee, the HyPe panel at Salamanca Arts Centre and the Live Art Roundtable discussion hosted by the Australia Council in 2010. I have been a board member of Is Theatre and the Hobart Fringe Festival.
In 2009 I founded and am the main editor of the resource blog LALA, this is seen as an important resource and linking point for the community of makers who embrace live art and similar practices.
I am a founding member of the art collective Field Theory. Field Theory created an alternative funding strategy in 2010 which raised $20,000 to support four projects which couldn’t otherwise happen. The collective has also just recently received funding to articulate a strategy for Live Art leadership in the country.
