Well here I am just a couple of days out from Visible City – the collaborative cross-artform project that is the keynote project of this years Melbourne Fringe Festival.

There are many things swirling around in my head at the moment, the least of which is how this project challenges the modus operandi of art creation in a city context. How process and delivery of work can intermingle, how public space can be challenges and questioned, how collaborative tactics can encompass those you have not met yet and what is the politic of someone standing on a city street doing something other than walking or sitting?

I have been incredibly lucky to have been folded into the bosom of Melbourne Fringe who have supported, cajoled and pushed me to enable a work of this size and importance. We as a team have been lucky to have the support initially of the Inter-Arts office of the Australia Council who championed this work when no-one else had jumped on board yet. From this foundation we were then able to put together the other funding to bring the project to fruition.

I don’t really have time to think more about all the possibility of the project now – the rolling out of the work will happen online for those that can’t be in this city. www.melbournefringe.com/visiblecity
