There are times when you are making work when you trust your instincts and don’t structure things too much in order to feel your way along. Then other times the form is everything and you need a story, a narrative a theme to hang things off, to feel like you are moving confidently against something. What excited me about the work i am undertaking with Kelly is that we are intuiting what needs to come next. The first week was very much about playing material in improvised sessions until we came across what it was we needed and what we felt like we were doing.

In this way, the direction is really brought about by textures, rhythm, pace, dynamic, feeling and connection with the other artist.
